O my Gurudev, Ocean of Compassion, please cast your grace on me.
I am unworthy, dependent, and without shelter. Now please grant me refuge.
I am drowning in the middle of this ocean of mundane existence.
I have no one else in this world to help me but you.
I am wanting in sadhana-no japa1 no tapa2 - and I have no knowledge.
What is left in me is only shamelessness and pride.
This boat3, laden with sins, is fast approaching the eddy.
O my Master, come running to save me. It is sinking quickly.
If you desert me, I have nowhere to go.
How shall I ferry this boat across the sorrows of rebirth ?
Having wandered everywhere in vain, I now take refuge in you.
Whether you take me across or not is your sweet will.
